a view from griffith park last sunday

This is what I took on last Sunday. It could be my best shot from atop of Griffith Park. Last sunday was cloudy but with low humidity that means better visibility. Downtown Los Angeles could be seen clearly. I took additionally 4 rolls of film. This shot is from the second roll. There're 2 rolls left and I planned to develop them next week when I got back from Seattle.

This could be the modest camera in 1910. Wow it could be the earliest SLR ever recorded.

I went back to Sequoia national park again last weekend. This time, I took color photographs instead of B&W.
It's very nice to see the giant redwood is actually red. This one in the picture may not be the oldest and the biggest one. Certainly, this tree has undergone hundred years of endurance and hursh weather. Imagine of hundreds of winter cold and hundreds of wild fire that burned its burk form time to time.
Compared to human, we live such short life. We came to earth later but damages the environment the most.

digital vs film

digital vs film

This is Sony Cybershot 3.3 megapixel. It was top of the line digital camera back in 2001. For some reasons, it's now dead. Have it repaired? Just forget it. It'd be cheaper to get a new one which is lot more slimmer and with 3 times more megapixel.
I took this pic with my old Leica IIIf. It's from 1952 and still capable of creating best picture now and the future.

Go film!!!

Sunday Hiking

I returend to Griffith Park again last Sunday. I went there on Sunday before but didn't get any good picture. It was raining very bad on Sunday but I guessed that rain would stop in the afternoon. My guess was right. Afternoon was cloudy but clear without any fog. This is the best I got compare to the one from last trip.

It was Zeiss Ikon Ikonta this time. My Zeiss Ikon Maximar that was used last week was jammed. I would try my Maximar again next time.

I did my own photograpy workshop at home last weekend. I was trying to do light setting according to my photograpic textbook. I attached my Ikoflex to my speedlights, one attached to the softbox and one with reflective umbrella. As you can see, the result is satisfied.
I asked my model who was very busy with her cooking to post for few minutes. She liked the photographs besides her complaint about her hair-do and her look. Well, it could be next time.

LACMA, a museum next door opened its new building last weekend. There're planty of artwork displayed around. the one I like most is a red toy fire truck with a guy in red sweat shirt who was around nearby. Big caption "Ask me" printed on front. He seemed to be eager to talk to anyone who interested in the big red toy fir truck... Alas.. nobody asked him..

Yesterday was Martin Luther King Holiday. We stayed at home rather than going out. After breakfast when Phon clearing the table, I saw the light was right. So I grabbed my M6 and told her to be close to the flowers. And here what I got.

I use Leica M6 with Carl Zeiss Biogon 35mm ZM. Forte film ISO 400 developed with Clayton F-76 at 68F for 8.00 mins.

Everytime I look at this picture. I could feel the moment of Sunday Morning. Relax and comfortable...
